My research focuses on investigating the role of mitochondrial dynamics in drug-tolerant persister (DTP) cells within triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). These rare subpopulations of cancer cells survive initial chemotherapy and contribute to disease recurrence and resistance. Specifically, we aim to explore how alterations in mitochondrial and bioenergetics support the survival of DTP cells under therapeutic stress. By dissecting the underlying molecular mechanisms, such as the involvement of key regulatory proteins seek to identify novel vulnerabilities that could be therapeutically targeted to eliminate persister cells and improve long-term treatment outcomes in TNBC.
