Protein aggregation is the hallmark feature of neurodegenerative diseases. In Parkinson's disease, Alpha-synuclein protein aggregates and accumulates resulting in the formation of Lewy bodies. So far, treatment of PD is only aimed at reducing symptoms. I am exploring various pathways targeting protein aggregation to identify novel therapeutic approaches that are useful in disease modification.
